For our first glimpse at the world of Inside Out, Disney/Pixar’s newest classic-in-the-making, the animation giant really wants to remind you how many awesome movies they’ve already made. The trailer consists of a lot of footage from previous Pixar efforts like Toy Story, The Incredibles and Monsters, Inc. Check it out in the player below!

Here’s the synopsis:

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Inside Out is written and directed by Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc., Up) with co-director Ronnie del Carmen. It is due for release June 19, 2015, only five months before Pixar’s next effort The Good Dinosaur opens on November 25, 2015.

Adam Sandler To Star In Film Quartet For Netflix, Which Continues To Thumb Nose At Theaters

BREAKING: Days after setting Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend as its first theatrical feature, Netflix has set a quartet of films that will star Adam Sandler, who’ll produce the features under his Happy Madison banner. The films will bypass theaters and be made available directly to Netflix subscribers in 50 countries.

Image (1) netflix-logo__140423195416.png for post 718864The major theatrical chains responded to the deal for Crouching Tiger 2 by saying they would not show the film, which also will play IMAX screens. As studios and theaters fight over closing the windows between theatrical and home entertainment to make films more like the user-friendly programming in television, it was inevitable that a disruptive upstart like Netflix would start making features. If stars like Sandler sign up to headline them, this protesting from theater chains soon will be like theater owners arguing they are hanging on to the horse-drawn cart business while others are going with cars. This deal is an important next step. While Sandler has made his share of underperforming movies like the recently released Blended, he certainly is a branded performer.

He is quite good in The Cobbler, the Thomas McCarthy-directed film that premiered at Toronto. It has been the Happy Madison-produced films that underwhelmed, but it’s possible that a new platform will benefit him. Sandler’s film long have been hot rental titles for Netflix, according to the company.

Happy Gilmore“People love Adam’s films on Netflix and often watch them again and again,” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. “His appeal spans across viewers of all ages — everybody has a favorite movie, everyone has a favorite line — not just in the U.S. but all over the world.”

Said Sandler: “When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only: Netflix rhymes with ‘wet chicks.’ Let the streaming begin!”

‘I Am Legend’ Reboot Happening Without Will Smith

Oct 1, 2014 by B. Alan Orange

Warner Bros. has long tried to find a way to make I Am Legend 2 work, but could never quite crack the story. Now, they’ve completely given up on a sequel, and instead are rebooting the movie without Will Smith’s involvement in the hopes of launching a whole new franchise.

Warner Bros. believes it has found a way to continue on using the I Am Legend brand without the star, who has been reluctant to commit to sequels outside of the Men In Black franchise. They plan to take a spec script they recently acquired titled A Garden at the End of the World and retrofit it so that it falls in line with the story of the last man on earth. The screenplay was bought back in April from Gary Graham, who was working at an Apple store in Manhattan when he published the script on the Black List website. He soon caught the eye of CAA and manager Brooklyn Weaver, who quickly signed him and sent the screenplay out.

Warner Bros. picked up the script amid several other bidders last april. The story of A Garden at the End of the World is described as a sci-fi version of The Searchers starring John Wayne. When Warner Bros. brought Gary Graham in to rewrite the screenplay, they had already talked to the producers of I Am Legend, noting the similar themes and mythology contained in both stories. Gary Graham was asked to redraft the script to fit into that world.

Original producers Akiva Goldsman (who wrote the first movie), James Lassiter and Joby Harold are all on board for the reboot, and will produce alongside Roy Lee and Brooklyn Weaver.

Warner Bros. previously tried to make a prequel to I Am Legend which would have brought Will Smith back as scientist Robert Neville, right before the events that left him alone on earth, fighting a new breed killer humans. While a lot of writers were brought into work on the screenplay, no would could figure out the correct path to take it. I Am Legend 2 was then scrapped.

Turning a free-standing spec-script into a franchise sequel is nothing new. The Jonathan Hensleigh screenplay Simon Says was turned into Die Hard: With a Vengeance, George Nolfi had his screenplay Honor Among Thieves turned into Ocean’s Twelve, and more recently Adam Cozad‘s Dubai became Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

No story details for the I Am Legend reboot have been revealed. Gary Graham no longer works at the Apple store, and instead makes a living as a full-time writer in New York.

I Am Legend (Reboot) is in development .

Catherine Zeta-Jones Set for Drug Lord Biopic ‘The Godmother’

Oct 1, 2014 by Brian Gallagher

Catherine Zeta-Jones has signed on to star in the biopic The Godmother, playing true-life female drug kingpin Giselda Blanco.

Giselda Blanco was the only woman to ever rise through the ranks of Colombian’s notorious Medellin cartel, a feared figure during the drug wars that exploded in Miami during the 1970s and 1980s. She was said to have ordered hundreds of assassinations to attain her grip on the drug trade, which earned her nicknames such as La Madrina, Black Widow, and the Cocaine Godmother. Her story was also told in the 2006 Magnolia Pictures documentary Cocaine Cowboys.

Blanco was born in Cartegena, Colombia, spending her childhood as a teenage runaway and prostitute before emigrating to New York City. Along with her husband, she started a cocaine business before she was forced to flee back to Colombia to escape federal charges. Blanco later resurfaced in Miami, where she set up a drug network between Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Colombia. She was arrested in 1985 where she served 18 years in prison before being deported back to Colombia. She died in 2012 from a motorcycle drive-by shooting.

Norwegian filmmaker Eva Sørhaug (90 Minutes) is directing from a screenplay by Frank Baldwin. No production schedule was given. Catherine Zeta-Jones most recently starred in Side Effects and Red 2.

The Godmother is in development and stars Catherine Zeta-Jones. The film is directed by Eva Sørhaug.
